Artist Feature: Kelly Smith

Took a stroll with my gal up at the L.A. Artwalk last week, and saw a nice bit of photography over at the Todd Browning Gallery on W. 5th Street.

That evening Photographers Jessica Robertson, Kelly Smith and Tiffany Trenda were showing works for an exhibit entitled “Beneath the Valley of The Dolls”. Kelly actually came up and said Hello, and we got to speaking a bit about his photos on display.

Below are some his pieces: Photos taken of world famous pop-culture collector Lester Glassners’ collection of Kewpie Dolls, Toys and Figurines, dating back to the 30’s. Kelly Took photos for the Library of Congress in 1999, this lead to Mr. Glassner allowing Kelly to photograph pieces of the collection as portraits. Lester Glassner passed in August, 2009 at the age of 70.
