Today, according to Associated Press, at the age of 59, Philadelphia Soul Legend, Teddy Pendergrass, passed away after struggling with Cancer and paralysis… So we lose another, in a line of wonderful musicians… We thank you and wish you a peaceful rest Teddy Bear. Rise In Power.

(March 23, 1928 – January 5, 2010)

Today, at the age of 81, Memphis producer, Willie Mitchell, passed away of natural causes. Thank You, Mr. Mitchell, for so many fresh works of sound, and for helping to keep our heads nodding. You will be truly missed. Rise In Power.

The Legendary Gil Scott-Heron, Brian Jackson & the Midnight Band released an incredible album in 1975 on Arista Records, entitled The First Minute of a New Day.

Back in September, I got this album for $1.00 at the Beat Swap Meet up in Los Angeles. I have it on vinyl & CD, but I thought owning this small piece of history on 8-track tape was more than worth the dollar I handed over.
